Rhodes is set to strengthen its air connectivity with Bulgaria, as Wizz Air announces a new direct route linking Sofia and Rhodes as part of its summer 2026 schedule. The new connection highlights Rhodes growing appeal as a Mediterranean destination for the Bulgarian market and supports the island’s tourism development.
The route will be operated with the modern Airbus A321neo, an aircraft known for improved fuel efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and reduced noise levels. This aligns with Wizz Air’s broader strategy of operating a more environmentally friendly and modern fleet.
Direct flights between Sofia and Rhodes will operate three times per week, offering convenient travel options for both leisure travelers and tour operators. The new route is expected to boost visitor flows to Rhodes, particularly during the peak summer season, while also providing affordable travel choices.
The launch of this connection further confirms Rhodes’ strong position among popular Greek island destinations and reflects continued airline confidence in the island’s tourism potential.
The Sofia–Rhodes flight starts on 3 July 2026, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with fares starting from €24.99.
