The village of Platania is 38 kilometers from the city of Rhodes and just a few kilometers away from the village of Apollona.
The Platania are located on the slope of the Prophet Ilias mountain where the rough Pefki thrives and the few houses of the Platanias are amphitheatrically built.
The village got its name from the many plane trees that grow in the area. It is a very small beautiful traditional village, which has rich vegetation and many waters. It is mainly preferred by those looking for a quiet meal in one of its taverns. The inhabitants of the village are mainly engaged in tourism and some in agriculture.
The village church is dedicated to Agios Georgios and was built in 1850. There is a nice wood-carved iconostasis.
